Job Summary The role of an Acute MedSurgical Nurse requires providing exceptional care to patients with a range of medical and surgical needs. This involves utilizing the nursing process to assess, diagnose, plan, intervene, and evaluate patient care.
This position demands a high level of autonomy, enabling nurses to work independently and make informed decisions in complex clinical situations. It is crucial to develop strong leadership skills, as this role involves delegating tasks to other care providers and managing clinical situations effectively.
In addition to technical skills, successful candidates will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ensuring seamless collaboration with multidisciplinary teams and effective education of patients, families, and caregivers.
Key Responsibilities: Provides routine and complex care to patients with acute medical and surgical conditions Develops and implements individualized care plans, considering patient-specific needs and goals Maintains accurate and comprehensive records of patient history, symptoms, medication, and care provided Administers medications and treatments, monitoring for side effects and effectiveness Educates patients, families, and caregivers on health-related topics, promoting self-management and empowerment
Requirements: Education and Experience: Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred; 1 year of experience in the related nursing specialty preferred Certifications and Licenses: RN License in state of employment or compact required; BLS certification required
