Summary The Manager, Physician Advisor is responsible to lead the physician advisor team. This position oversees Physician Advisors, Case Manager, Clinical Resource Utilization; and other personnel that support the function of the team. Responsibilities Responsible for recruiting & training the Physician Advisors. Organizes workflow and scheduling for Physician Advisors. Coordinates activities with Utilization Review, Case Management, Clinical Documentation Improvement, Revenue Cycle, and other teams. Manages and monitors contracted Physician Advisor services. Monitors performance in such areas as inpatient status, length of stay, denial management, documentation improvement, and quality improvement. Supports quality and process improvement activities through active participation. Maintains collegial relations with medical staff leadership and providers. Develops, promotes and utilizes guidelines and evidence-based medicine across the continuum of care. Supports Utilization Review Committee. Provides education in related areas to various groups as including providers, residents, nursing and other disciplines. Provides clinical care periodically so as to maintain clinical skills. Experience Generally requires 5 to 7 years of related experience. Management experience is required. Education MD or DO degree (US or FMG) is required. Skill Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work accurately while meeting multiple deadlines. Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form. Ability to handle difficult and stressful situations with critical thinking and professional composure. Ability to understand and follow instructions. Ability to exercise sound and independent judgment. Knowledge and skill in use of job appropriate technology and software applications. Credentials Active medical license or certification is required. ABQAURP or similar certification is preferred.
