Boeing Commercial Airplanes is seeking an Asset Software & Controls Engineers to architect, define, plan, implement and support the robotic and automation equipment to build airplanes. The ideal candidate will have experience in integrating, programming, and troubleshooting industrial robots, Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), Numerical Controls (NC), Human Machine Interfaces (HMI), and Drives. Our team is focused on teamwork and collaboration along with the opportunity to coach and mentor others.
This opportunity is located in Everett, WA, and our team members support the entire 777 and 777X program including structures, wings, and final assembly.
This is a unique 2nd shift opportunity in that you will be following a 4x9 schedule, working 4 days with 9 hours each (1:30 pm – 11 pm PST) while getting paid 40 hours and having 3 days off per week. You must be able to work 2nd shift, as this posting is not for any other shift.
Our teams are currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including Associate, Mid-Level and Senior Level Equipment and Tool Engineers.
Primary Responsibilities:
Architect, define, plan, implement and support the robotic and automation equipment to build airplanes.
Integrate, program, and troubleshoot industrial robots from well-known Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) including ABB, FANUC, and KUKA.
Integrate, program, and troubleshoot Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), Numerical Controls (NC), Human Machine Interfaces (HMI), and Drives from Siemens, FANUC, and Allen Bradley.
Optimize complex robotics and automation equipment for safety, quality, ergonomics, flow, reliability, and maintainability.
Generate system specifications from production system requirements.
Manage projects and comply with industry standards including electrical and safety codes.
Hardware and software configuration management.
Work in a cross functional team alongside manufacturing, quality, safety, services, research and technology, suppliers, and vendors.
Communicate, collaborate, coach and mentor others.
This position is a Production Engineering role and requires direct interfacing with the people and equipment on the production floor. A typical day could include:
Spending up to 8 hours on feet standing/walking on the production floor
Climbing ladders or stairs to access equipment
Working at heights or in tight spaces
Wearing required PPE
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):
Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement
2 or more years’ related engineering work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience
Must be able to work second shift during the hours of 1:30 pm – 11 pm PST
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
5+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience (Mid-Level)
9+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience (Senior Level)
2 or more years of experience with programming, integrating or troubleshooting industrial automation from OEMs such as ABB or FANUC, or PLCs, NCs, HMIs, or Drives such as Siemens, FANUC or Allen Bradley
1 or more years of experience with programming languages such as Java and SQL
1 or more years of experience working with hardware, software, and documentation configuration management

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
Summary pay range for Associate Level (Level 2): $81,600 - $110,400
Summary pay range for Mid-Level (Level 3): $96,050 - $129,950
Summary pay range for Senior Level (Level 4): $118,150 - $159,850
