There are four PACUs on the Barnes-Jewish Hospital campus:
South Tower PACU--86 beds
Shift: 4x10s, 5:30am start time or rotating start times (10:00 AM or 12:00 PM) available
Critical care pay eligible
Diverse, high-acuity patient population: neuro, transplant, orthopedic, ENT, cardiac, vascular, thoracic, trauma, spine
Parkview Plaza Tower--44 beds
Shift: 4x10 hour shifts, start times between 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM
Critical care pay eligible
Recover minimally invasive surgery, urology, colorectal, gynecology, bariatric and gender reassignment surgeries
Plaza West Tower--34 beds
Shift: 4x10 hour shifts--630A, 730A, 8:00A start times available
Critical care pay eligible
Recover cutting-edge interventional radiology cases
Center for Advanced Medicine--40 beds
Shift options: 4x10s or 5x8s
No nights, holidays or weekends
Recover ophthalmology, orthopedic , breast, flaps, vascular and gender reaffirming surgeries

Role Purpose
Provides direct patient care activities including assessment, diagnosis, planning implementation, and evaluation within the guidelines of the standards of nursing care.
Responsibilities
Promotes patient and family centered care in a healing environment. Educates patients and their families on how to manage their illness or injury, including post treatment home care needs and medication administration.Participates in activities that promote patient safety, quality and regulatory compliance. Participates in professional development.Develops, implements, and documents individual plans of care with defined goals in collaboration with other members of the interprofessional team and patient, family or caregiver in accordance with the established guidelines and standards of nursing care. Proactively plans and ensures communication of the plan of care across the continuum of care.Uses critical nursing skills to assess and evaluate physical, psychosocial, and emotional needs according to standards of care. Assess patient preferences and barriers to involvement in care, including their values, emotional, spiritual, cultural, and population-specific needs.BJC has determined this is a safety-sensitive position. The ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner is an essential function of this job. Minimum Requirements
