Nursing Career The competent nurse practices independently and demonstrates awareness of all relevant aspects of a situation. They provide routine and complex care, with the ability to set long-range goals or plans. The competent nurse continues to develop their ability to cope with and manage clinical contingencies. Key Responsibilities: Maintain expectations of applicable competencies: leader of self, leader of others, or leader of leaders. Consistent with ANA Scope and Standards of Practice, provides nursing care utilizing the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients. Addresses increasingly complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families in accordance with their level of practice. Administers medications and treatments using the appropriate protocol; monitors for side-effects and effectiveness of prescribed treatment. Documents patient history, symptoms, medication, and care given. Achieves learning needs by providing education to patients, family members, and/or caregivers; identifies issues and resources. Required Qualifications Education/Skills: Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing, preferred. Experience: 1 year of experience in related nursing specialty, preferred. Licenses/Registrations/Certifications: BLS required. RN License in state of employment or compact. Work Arrangement Varying schedule. Full-time position available.
