Job Overview Seeking several staff for a Willimantic group home with 3 individuals living in the home. We have several shifts an 11.5 hr and a 28hr shift and a 22 hr position and a 76 hr position. We have several other group homes in the area also seeking to fill some positions. We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional to provide essential care and support to individuals with disabilities, including those on the autism spectrum. In this role, you will assist clients in their daily activities, promote independence, and enhance their quality of life through tailored support. Your commitment to fostering a positive environment will be crucial in helping our clients achieve their personal goals.

Duties

Provide direct care and support to individuals, ensuring their safety and well-being. Assist with daily living activities such as meal preparation, personal hygiene, and medication management. Monitor patients' conditions and report any changes or concerns to the appropriate personnel. Engage clients in social and recreational activities to promote social interaction and skill development. Implement individualized care plans tailored to each client's needs and preferences. Maintain a clean and organized living environment for clients. Support clients in developing life skills that promote independence. Collaborate with families, healthcare providers, and other team members to ensure comprehensive care.

Requirements

Experience or training in first aid and CPR is preferred. Knowledge of meal preparation techniques for individuals with dietary restrictions. Familiarity with patient monitoring practices and long-term care settings. Previous experience working with individuals on the autism spectrum is a plus. Background in social work or related fields is advantageous. Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport with clients. Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to help others are essential traits for success in this role. Ability to adapt to changing situations and respond effectively to client needs.
