Job Title: Medical Assistant Supervisor
Reports to: Site Manager - Provo
Supervises: Medical Assistants, MA Captains, Referrals team
Starting Wage: $22.02+ (salary commensurate with experience/education)
Job Summary:
The Medical Assistant Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily activities and performance of medical assistants within the Health Center clinic. This role ensures high-quality patient care, supports efficient clinic operations, and facilitates the professional development of medical assistants. The supervisor serves as a liaison between clinical staff, providers, and administrative leadership to maintain compliance with healthcare regulations, organizational policies, and best practices. The MA Supervisor performs and delegates tasks, and is involved in hiring, training, and staffing decisions in coordination with Site Managers.
Job Qualifications:
· Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred.
· High school diploma or GED required; Associate or higher degree preferred.
· Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program required.
· Minimum 2 years of experience as a Certified Medical Assistant.
· At least 1 year of supervisory or lead experience in a healthcare setting preferred
· BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required.
· Proof of current immunizations requested upon hire
· Reliable transportation. Limited travel to other sites for cross-coverage is possible (less than 15 miles).
Skills & Competencies:
· Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
· Proficiency in Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems (e.g., Epic, Athenahealth).
· Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.
· Knowledge of medical terminology, procedures, and clinical protocols.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervision & Leadership
- Provide direct supervision, mentoring, and performance evaluations for medical assistants.
- Coordinate staffing schedules, time-off requests, and ensure appropriate clinic coverage.
- Conduct regular team meetings and individual check-ins.
- Clinical Oversight
- Monitor clinical workflows to ensure consistent, high-quality care and patient satisfaction.
- Assist with onboarding, training, and competency assessments of new and existing MAs.
- Provide hands-on support during peak clinic hours or staff shortages.
- Compliance & Quality Assurance
- Ensure staff adherence to infection control, safety, and HIPAA regulations.
- Monitor documentation practices for accuracy and completeness in the EHR.
- Collaborate with leadership to implement and monitor quality improvement initiatives.
- Administrative Support
- Manage supply inventory, order clinical materials, and ensure equipment functionality.
- Assist with incident reporting, audits, and risk management follow-up as needed.
- Participate in hiring, disciplinary actions, and resolution of staff concerns or conflicts.
