- Screenings: Assist with vision, hearing, TB, and dental screenings, as well as head lice checks to ensure the overall health of students.
- Evaluations: Provide specialized health care to students, including tube feeding, suctioning, and administering medications like Diastat and insulin. Evaluate ill students and administer first aid to ensure appropriate care for injuries and illnesses.
- Team Collaboration: Communicate student health conditions to parents and staff while maintaining confidentiality. Collaborate effectively with colleagues to address the health needs of students and support their well-being.
- Plan Development: Maintain accurate health records and ensure a safe, orderly health office environment. Oversee inventory and order first aid supplies while utilizing various medical equipment as needed.
- Knowledge & Skills: Understanding of federal, state, and district health policies, basic anatomy, and emergency medical procedures. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to exercise sound judgment in emergencies.
- Experience: Previous nursing experience in school health settings, hospitals, or clinics is preferred. Proven ability to assess student health needs and provide appropriate care in a timely manner.
- Background: Detail-oriented with the capability to prioritize tasks in a dynamic environment while maintaining confidentiality and fostering positive relationships within a diverse school community.
Registered Nurse Qualifications:
- Educational Background: Associate Degree in Nursing and/or a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). Current Registered Nurse License required.
- Experience: At least one year of nursing experience in schools, hospitals, clinics, doctor's offices, or health agencies.
- Background Check: Department of Justice/FBI Background Check (or equivalent state or national fingerprint clearance).
- TB Clearance
- Eligibility to Work: Eligibility to work in the US
Registered Nurse Physical Demands:
- Environment: Occasional exposure to dust, pollen, and fumes.
- Activity: Frequent engagement in tasks such as reaching, handling, standing, walking, and lifting items, with or without reasonable accommodations.
