Night shift, 18:45–07:15, 36 hours per week, every other weekend required Highlights: Specialized post-open heart recovery unit caring for cardiac surgery, thoracotomies, esophagogastrectomies, and TAVR patients Advanced critical care environment with ECMO, Impella, IABP, CRRT, and VAD support 1:1 patient ratios on nights, 2:1 on weekends; daily census of 11–14 patients in a 14-bed unit Epic charting system with comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, respiratory services, pharmacy, and rapid response teams 13-week contract with self-scheduling model and flexibility for up to 7 days of approved time off Collaborative unit culture with access to physical therapy, radiology, social services, and phlebotomy support Requirements: Minimum 2 years of CVICU or open heart experience required Previous travel nursing experience required; first-time travelers not accepted Active North Carolina or Compact state RN license (must be in hand at start) Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS Required skills: interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, ECMO, IABP, post-cardiac surgery care, Swan Ganz monitoring, TAVR, VAD management, arterial line management, blood product administration, central line care, continuous IV sedation, titrating cardiac drips, ventilated patient care, ABG interpretation, and isolation precautions Preferred skills: port access and management, titrating vasoactive drips, chest tube assistance, BiPAP/CPAP management, high-flow nasal cannula, and ventilator management Epic charting experience preferred Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions only) Why It's a Great Opportunity: Join a highly skilled cardiovascular intensive care team dedicated to providing exceptional post-operative cardiac care in a state-of-the-art recovery unit.
