Certifications: BLS ACLS NIHSS TNC

Must-Have: Experience with complex ICU patients, including surgical, medical, cardiac, neuro, and trauma cases. Ability to manage IV medications, hemodynamic lines, ventilator management, and telemetry. Strong critical thinking and assessment skills.

Description: This is a mixed unit with various ICU beds including MICU, SICU, CICU, and TICU. Travelers will not float to specialized areas unless they have specific experience. The patient population consists of complex cases including ARDS, MI, CVA/TIA, COVID, post-surgical, and multiple system trauma. Cardiac experience is preferred but not required. Patient to nurse ratios can range from 1:1 to 1:3, depending on acuity. Required experience includes managing vasopressors, sedation, paralytics, and proning. Familiarity with Epic is required. Resource and support staff are available, including charge nurses and respiratory therapists. Orientation consists of a hospital orientation and unit-specific training. Scheduling includes weekend rotation and holiday expectations, with no requests for time off during peak periods. The environment is fast-paced, requiring comfort with critical patients and teamwork.
