Description: RN candidates must pass an open book exam on skills learned during orientation. A minimum score of 90% is required to pass; failure to do so will result in termination. Orientation includes a 12-hour shift focused on unit policies and procedures. Candidates must adhere to a radius rule of 50 miles and may not be employed part-time, full-time, or PRN with any associated facilities. Driver's licenses are required and will be used for verifying travel eligibility. Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care departments. Refusal to comply with this policy will lead to contract termination. This position requires ICU experience, including managing patients on drips, vents, and bipaps. RNs are required to titrate drips, including vasopressors and sedation medications. Charge nurses are present on each shift and maintain their assignments. There are no nurse aides or patient care techs available on this unit. A hospitalist is on-site 24/7, and intensivists are available during the day and via telemedicine at night. Respiratory therapy resources are shared with the emergency department. Telemetry technicians are centralized and not located in-house. RNs must be able to read and verify their own telemetry strips. Shift scheduling is 1830 to 0700, with every third weekend required. Self-scheduling and block scheduling are not available; shifts are assigned based on high need. Floating to progressive care units may be required if not needed in ICU. The dress code requires navy blue scrubs. A total of two shifts of unit-specific orientation may be required. The facility may cancel up to four shifts during the assignment duration. Charting is done using the EPIC system. This is an acute care setting with a trauma level of 3.
