Description: This unit consists of 36 private rooms. It serves a patient population ranging from young adults to geriatric patients. Priority admission is given to patients requiring a medical level of cardiac care. Patients are recovering from various cardiac interventions including, but not limited to, cardiac surgery, coronary artery stent placement, and pacemaker implant. The unit also admits hemodynamically stable non-procedural cardiac patients. Patient ratios are typically 1:5-6. Experience with charting systems is required, specifically with Epic. Skills needed include management of dysrhythmias, telemetry monitoring, and IV protocol management. The unit also requires experience in post-cardiac interventions, including catheter and surgery recovery. Support services available on the unit include physical therapy, respiratory services, social services, and pharmacy. Team members are expected to adhere to isolation precautions and participate in rapid response scenarios. All staff must be able to manage various medical equipment and execute patient care protocols effectively.
