Description: The unit includes a maximum of 30 beds. Nurse-to-patient ratios will reach up to 1:7. Registered Nurses must be comfortable with this ratio. There is one charge RN on the floor with assignment responsibilities. Patient care technicians are available on the unit. RNs are required to titrate heparin based on APTT results. There is no ventilator support; only intermittent BIPAP is used. Telemetry is available on the unit and monitored remotely by technicians. Shifts are transitioning to a new scheduling system. Weekend and holiday scheduling occurs as needed, typically one-half of the total weekends. There is no standby or call requirement. Floating to other units is based on census, with external travelers prioritized for floating. Scrub colors are navy blue. Cancellation policy allows for two shifts per contract. The charting system used is EPIC. BSN is not required. No trauma level specifics are noted. Setting is acute care. Division is nursing. Nurses will work 12-hour night shifts, including weekends as scheduled.
