Description: This unit provides medical surgical/telemetry and progressive care to adult pre and post organ transplant patients. Adolescent patients starting at the age of 15 are cared for by core staff only. Ratios are 1:5 days and 1:6 nights, but night ratios can be 1:7 in rare circumstances. Travelers are first to float and must be prepared to float frequently to meet staffing needs. Weekends require 4 weekend shifts out of 8 possible in a 4-week period, both Saturday and Sunday shifts required. Travelers must work 2 out of 3 major holidays. Local candidates will not be accepted. Pending license applications are acceptable, but the license must be in hand prior to the start of employment. Mandatory charting class is required prior to the start of orientation week. Gray scrubs with the facility logo are mandatory. The facility is dedicated to providing care to some of the sickest and most complex patients through a team of experts in all major specialties and services. The unit supports an interdisciplinary care team, including care techs, transport teams, and paramedics. Required drips include Nitro, Heparin, and Insulin. Candidates may encounter various medications and procedures typical of a high-acuity unit. All contracts must end on a Sunday. Compliance documentation must be provided prior to the start of employment.
