Job Title: Care Assistant As a care assistant, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care in an acute care setting. Your responsibilities will include assisting with routine and repetitive patient care activities under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse. Responsibilities: Meet the expectations of our hospital's core competencies. Assist with patient admission, transfer, and discharge processes. Complete relevant documentation as required. Prepare patient rooms for admission by setting up IV poles and adjusting beds to the appropriate level. Ensure all patient belongings are safely transported to the new unit or home at the time of discharge. Transport stable patients as needed while maintaining security and confidentiality. Clean, procure, and return equipment and supplies as necessary. Run errands for the unit as required. Assist licensed personnel in providing a safe and comfortable environment at all times by replenishing patient rooms with water, linen, and towels as needed. Perform unit-specific patient care tasks in accordance with our skills checklist and document on the flowsheet. Identify obvious changes in patient condition and report them promptly to the nurse in charge. Assist with ordering and maintaining stock items according to established inventory procedures when needed. Keep unit supplies organized and orderly. Respond appropriately to emergencies. Communicate effectively with other team members during and between shifts. Respond to phone calls and patient call lights. Adapt patient assessment, treatment, and care methods to accommodate unique physical, psychosocial, cultural, age-specific, and developmental needs. Demonstrate competence in performing assigned patient care responsibilities that meet population-specific and developmental needs.
