Job Overview: The competent nurse practices independently and demonstrates a thorough understanding of all relevant aspects of a situation. Provides routine and complex care, with the ability to achieve long-range goals or plans. Continues to develop the ability to cope with and manage clinical nursing contingencies. Responsibilities: Meets expectations of applicable competencies. Provides nursing care utilizing the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients. Addresses increasingly complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families in accordance with their level of practice. Administers medications and treatments; monitors side-effects and effectiveness of prescribed treatments. Documents patient history, symptoms, medication, and provided care. Assesses learning needs and provides education to patients, family members, and/or caregivers; identifies issues and resources. Requirements: Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing, preferred. 1 year of experience in the related nursing specialty, preferred. Basic Life Support (BLS) required. RN License in state of employment or compact state.
