About The Position
Job Title: Physician Job Specialty: Emergency Medicine Job Duration: 12 months Shift: 7a-7p, 7p-7a, with two 8-hour shifts available per day Guaranteed Hours: Not specified Experience: Board Eligible in Emergency Medicine after successful completion of an accredited residency; alternatively, Family Medicine or Internal Medicine with 3 years of experience (for specific emergency facilities) License: Emergency privileges available Certifications: Proficiency in all emergency care procedures including Central Access, Arterial Line, Lumbar Puncture, Intubation, Pacing, Orthopedic stabilization, etc. Must-Have: Competency in emergency care procedures; experience in handling emergency department cases Job Description: - Address staffing shortages in the emergency medicine specialty. - Provide care in a trauma center, with variable patient census based on location and shift. - Work alongside a support staff that includes Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) based on the shift and time of day. - Handle a variety of cases, including those with abdominal and chest pain, primarily in vertical 3 and level 4/5 patient settings. - Participate in an orientation session on the morning of the first shadow shift. - No on-call requirements. - APP training programs available. - Engage in scenarios involving 2 patients per hour in Free Standing Emergency Department settings, while main sites offer more variability. - Provide medical procedures on-site; no usage of robots reported. - Typically, one EM physician is present per shift in Free Standing Emergency Departments, and two in main sites. This position is essential to address immediate staffing requirements and manage patient care effectively in a dynamic emergency medicine environment.
