12-hour rotating day/night shifts; shift assignments reviewed every 4-week scheduling period based on departmental needs Highlights: Medical Surgical Oncology unit with 36 beds serving adult and geriatric populations Focus on continuous cardiac monitoring related to chemotherapy administration, symptom management, and infection prevention protocols Patient ratio of 1:4 with interdisciplinary support including Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, Rapid Response Teams, and Pharmacy Epic EMR system; 72-hour orientation provided Common diagnoses include breast, lung, prostate, pancreatic, colon, and esophageal cancers, as well as sickle cell crises Float requirements to other Medical Surgical Oncology units of equivalent or lower acuity Requirements: Minimum 2 years of RN experience required; oncology experience preferred but not required Current specialty experience within the past 3 years; at least 1 year of current specialty experience required Valid RN license (Compact or Ohio state license) in hand at time of submission Epic charting system experience required BCLS certification required Previous travel experience preferred Nursing education from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program 2 professional references required, including at least 1 manager or formal leadership reference Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only) Essential Skills: Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias Accessing ports, arterial line management, and PICC line management Blood product administration and central line care IV start and maintenance Chemotherapy administration BiPAP/CPAP management and tracheostomy care High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC) and interpretation of ABGs Assist with chest tube insertion/removal Proficiency with special equipment: B450 monitors, GE telemetry system, bladder scanner, Alaris pumps, and Stryker beds Why It's a Great Opportunity: This position offers the chance to make a meaningful impact in the lives of oncology patients requiring specialized medical-surgical care.
